South Central Division Performance Competition The 2012 event will be held January 14-15 at the University of Texas in Austin.
The 2013 event will take place at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Piano Stampede The Piano Stampede is an annual ensemble piano recital in which students play duets and ensemble music on four grand pianos in Little Rock. Students learn their assigned pieces up to tempo, attend one rehearsal with their group (other students that they don't know) on the day of the performance, and perform in a recital that evening. The tentative date for the 2011 event is November 5th, but it is still subject to change. Any ASMTA teacher can enroll students, and the fee is $15. There are pieces available for every level. MTNA Competitions The MTNA competitions will be held October 29, 2011 at UALR. For information regarding rules and repertoire requirements for your specific category please go to http://www.mtna.org or contact Sharon Ard, NCTM, ASMTA Competitions Chair.
Texarkana Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra is sponsoring a Youth Concerto Competition for high school students (grades 9-12). The competition will take place on January 21, 2012, in the Music Hall of the Stilwell Humanities Building at Texarkana College, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, TX 75599. Entry forms and fees must be postmarked by October 1, 2011. Entry fee $30. Guidelines for participation can be viewed after July 1st at http://www.texarkanasymphony.org. First place prize: $400 cash and an opportunity to perform with the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra at the TSO Educational Concerts in the Perot Theatre on February 15, 2012. Second place: $200 cash prize. Third place: $100 cash prize. Contact Remica Gray for more information.
